What is Namaz
Namaz is the Urdu word for Prayer. The Arabic word for Prayer is Salah(Sallaah). Namaz is the form of Worship of Allah. Which is performed by Muslims.
Namaz is one of the most important 5 pillars in Islam. Allah has mentioned the benefits and the importance of Namaz as many times in the Holy Quran. Namaz has been made compulsory for Muslims 5 times daily.
Early morning just before sunrise. It consists of 4 Rakats. 2 Rakats are Sunnah and the other 2 are Farz.
Afternoon prayers post the period of Zawaal (when sun is perpendicular to earth). It consists of 10 Rakats. First 4 Rakats are Sunnah the other 4 are Farz and the last 2 are Sunnah. But On Friday it consist of 12 Rakats. First 4 Rakats are Sunnah then the 2 Rakats Farz then other 4 are Sunnah and the last 2 are also Sunnah.
Post afternoon and before Sunset. It consists of 4 Rakats. These 4 Rakats are Farz.
Just after Sunset. It consists of 5 Rakats. First 3 Rakats are Farz and the other 2 are Sunnah.
Late evening after the Sunset is complete and darkness of the night is complete. It consists of 9 Rakats. First 4 Rakats are Farz and the 2 Rakats are Sunnah and the last 3 Rakats are witr.
